(3) Someone who is involved in recording and reporting of financial transactions, including the origination of the transaction, its recognition, processing, and summarization in the financial statements. Example: (1) The business owner hired an accountant to make sure his books were accurate and to prepare tax returns. (2) The banker insisted that the company give him audited financial statements. The banker recommended a number of accountants who could perform the audit.
